There are several methods a person can use to reduce the amount of stress in their life. Each person deals with stress differently outwardly, but on inside, stress affects each person in the same way. Here are five handy tips to reduce stress.

1. Get away. This doesn’t mean you have to physically leave but get away from everything by unplugging the home phone, turn off the cell phone, stay away from the television and the computer. Spend some time reading or taking a walk around the local park.

2. Exercise. 3. Learn to say no at times. People who have a lot on their plates are usually the people that can’t say no. Learn that it’s ok to not volunteer for every classroom activity or field trip your child has.

4. Stop being a pessimist. This may seem easier to say than it actually is to do, but learning to think like the “glass is half full” type of person will eventually reduce your level of stress and anxiety.

5. Look at the whole picture. When you are feeling stressed about one aspect of your day, take a step back and look at the big picture.
