Can being stressed out really cause Pain? The answer is yes. The mind plays a big part in our physical health. It is possible to make pain issues worse by focusing our mind on the pain.

Everyone has small aches and pains every day. As our bodies age most of us have small aches and pains that can increase for any number of reasons. When we know the reason for the pain that we are having then we can deal with the pain. Such as, if someone knows that they have arthritis in their knees then they can take an over the counter nsaid, and/or some mild heat for 20 minutes, which will help decrease the arthritis pain and inflammation.

Another example would be, if someone is experiencing pain in the stomach and the reason in unknown and is bothersome they will dwell on that pain and it will generally increase in intensity until we get our mind onto other things.

Stress can play an important part in our mental wellbeing as everything, including pain seems worst when one is under a lot of stress. Stress, along with anxiety and mood swings will use up much needed nutrients that the body needs to function properly. What researches have found out, that many already knew, is that stress is closely related to pain issues. Researchers are finding that one of the best ways to eliminate or at best decrease pain is to bring stress under control. The flip side of this is, if you bring pain issues under control then there is a good chance that the stress will decrease or resolve. Many people have found that stress brings on headaches, neck, back and shoulder pain.

Ideas for good stress/pain control is to exercise, relax or chill, and get restful sleep.
