Safe, Simple Ways To Treat Aches And Pains

Aches and pains can plague any part of the body, but the general treatment of them is surprisingly simple and similar. The following are suggestions for general pains and should be coupled with advice from a licensed physician.

A common pain is associated with the sciatic nerve in the leg. This nerve originates in the spine but runs through the hip and down the outer length of the leg. A hip muscle can compress the nerve and cause pain. Similarly, throughout the body, many nerves can be compressed by muscles and cause pain. You can find a quick rundown here To alleviate the pain, you can try stretching the effected nerve area to relax muscle tension. If the pain increases while stretching, this may be a sign of a muscle, ligament or tendon injury rather than a constricted nerve. Be careful not to aggravate the injury with stretching.

The use of heat and cold to alleviate muscle pains is also practical. A warm bath can relax muscles, but an affected area may require the altering of heat and cold. If so, alternately applying a heating pad for 15 minutes followed by an ice pack for 15 minutes to pained muscle areas may work to remove the pain. This alternating treatment should be applied repeatedly for at least an hour to see results. Be careful not to irritate the skin over the affected area. Using a thin cloth in between the skin and the heating or cooling agent will prevent irritation.

There are also numerous topical creams that can be applied to affected areas. Each has specific instructions on how to apply in a safe manner and these instructions should be correctly followed. Preemptively applying topical creams to affected areas in the morning seems like a good idea but it is best to wait till the pain begins.
